The Nubia site contains a number of magnificent monuments as the Great and Small temples of Abu Simbel, which were built by the great King Ramses II, and the temple of Isis at the island of Philae, which were saved by the UNESCO Foundation from drowning after the rising water levels due to the construction of the High Dam during an International Campaign between 1960-1980.
