This period was more advanced than Naqqada I. One of the distinguishing elements is that the Egyptians used some imported material such as lapis, which indicates the existence of trade relations with Asia during that period. Remains of a civilization called Al Amra was found but it turned out to be Naqqada I and another called El Girza, which turned out to be an extension of Naqqda II.
