The Late Period is the period between the revival of ancient Egyptian civilization in the 26th Dynasty and the collapse of ancient Egypt in the 31st Dynasty. The kings of Egypt tried to stick to the tradition the Egyptian civilization despite the weakness of the state due to the growth of other new powers such as the Persian Empire that invaded Egypt more than once until the independence of Egypt ended with the invasion of Alexander the Macedonian and the establishment of the Ptolemaic state.
