Salah Al-Din Square is considered one of the most important historical squares in Cairo, it was given several names such Al-Remela Square, and Al-Qal'a (the Citadel) Square. It is located beneath the Citadel.
Many kings and sultans destroyed it, but Mohamed Ibn Qalawun, who used it to play the polo with his princes every Saturday and Tuesday, restored it. It was also used as receptionsfor sultans and ambassadors and a place for army celebrations.
