The Fatimid army entered Egypt in 17 Sha'ban 358\969 A.D under the commander Gawhar Al-Seqelly, who founded Cairo, the fourth Islamic city in Egypt, and it became the capital of the Fatimid Caliphate in Egypt.
At the center of the city, the beginnings of the Fatimid architecture appeared, as the first mosque was built and called Al-Azhar, and the base of the wall around Cairo and the eastern grand palace was set, and between the eastern palace and the western palace stands a large square where the ceremonies of the army review were performed, it was later known by Bayn Al-Kasrain \between the two palaces (Al-Moez Street), Cairo also contained many other buildings such as the mint, Al-Aqmar Mosque, and Al-Hakim Mosque.
